MICROLIGHT FLYING FOUNDATION
Ladies and gentleman, with the aim of developing the
Microlight Flying Foundation our Chairman, Chris Finnigan, has created the
following mission statement;
Facilitating the future of affordable aviation
The Microlight Flying Foundation (MFF) is a registered
charity whose aim is to raise funds to support, facilitate and encourage
affordable recreational flying into the future.
It is independent from the British Microlight Aircraft
Association, although its current Trustees are all members of the BMAA.
While it supports the Association's Bursary Scheme, the MFF also welcomes
applications for funding support from individuals, clubs and other
organisations seeking to promote and provide opportunities in microlight
aviation. Such support is not limited exclusively to young persons;
older beneficiaries whose aims align with those of the Foundation will always
Microlight aviation has made the dream of flying as a
pilot in command of a powered aeroplane come within the reach of many.
Recreational flying is no longer the preserve of the wealthy, as simpler
lightweight aircraft designs have brought both purchase and operating costs
down. Even so, many would-be pilots, flying instructors and aircraft
designers or engineers can be daunted by the cost of learning to fly or
acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in microlight and
The Foundation seeks to engage with individuals, clubs
and other organisations to help it raise funds to support the sector. Microlight
clubs are well known for fundraising in support of worthwhile causes related to
their own interests, such as local Air Ambulance charities.
The MFF would appreciate consideration by such clubs
when events are organised and donations to charities are sought. Pilots and
others involved in microlighting, who want to "put something back"
into this form of aviation, are encouraged to make a donation, leave a bequest
in their Will or generally help the charity to raise funds.
